A taste of the Provinces, the Slippers Episode

Still at the Fairmont Hotel in Banff – I was torn between the “tweet up” and the Royal LePage reception. Both sounded like they would house like minded people. I opted for the Royal LePage Reception as loyalty has its perks. Royal LePage is a great company to be aligned with. I have many friends at different offices and they do have good arguments as to why I should be under their roof, but I feel like Royal LePage is a family both locally and nationally. As real estate is extremely competitive, we all will have our tiffs in trying to do the bests for our clients and our business, but all in all I really care about these people.

I went down to the reception and enjoyed an array of delicious appetizers. I began chatting with a lovely lady named Jenny Watt, saw an old friend from Royal LePage conventions of the past, and again Kevin who was the only other local RLP agent from Summerland. We then all headed up to a “Taste of the Provinces Dinner” and were given $50,000 “play money”  to engage in some friendly card games. I may have hovered around the desert table more than I needed; feeling nice and stuffed I played a few hands of black jack and slipped away.

I ran up grabbed a bathing suit and slippers and found my way into the hot springs. Pamela was there with her hubby and Roger Yeo! We had some great discussions on what the board was trying to accomplish and the need for some younger blood on board. They asked if I would consider joining or volunteering on a committee until the next election. I again learned even more from these people and was amazed that I enjoyed their company and insight. I of course tried to do a little recruiting because they do work at different offices and would like to see more of them around my second home at Royal LePage Penticton. They had decent arguments…..I will still work on them as the little pest that I am.

I went back up to the hotel. I was so comfy and relaxed with my slippers and a great book The Glass Castle, lent to me by Kate, a new friend of mine as she is dating my friend Craig. I thought it had a special meaning reading The Glass Castle while staying in the Banff Fairmont Castle. As I was reading away I couldn’t help but check in with a local guy at home.

As I was doing so I noticed that my name was being tweeted about, my absence from the Karaoke party hadn’t gone unnoticed. A few mentions from @TLChome a good friend and speaker at the social media conference,  @soldbyrichard a new friend who is a twitteraholic, and @cliffstevenson. I tweeted back what I was up to and they didn’t care that I was all tucked in. I read a quick chapter and blessed the party goers with my presence; pajamas, slippers and all. Well you social media guru’s, you wanted me and now you have to put up with me! I found Teri aka @TLChome and her phone had frozen with me on her screen. We were reminiscing trying to recall when we first connected as the years have just flown by. I think we became good friends at the Penticton Head Start Conference on the dance floor. We danced the night away and had a little too much fun. The slippers were a hit! I am glad I went back!
