The Sunshine and Moonlight Home

I had the extraordinary pleasure of working with 2 unique individuals for the past month. I listed a home at 98 Dunant Crescent after another agent had it listed for several months with another agent. This home was right across from an adorable little kiddies play park; I had even shown it to my best friend who was looking but she opted for one right accross from an elementary school where all her 3 kids attend.

The sellers had canceled with their Realtor and demanded to use the girl who looks so happy in her picture! They had also seen my sold homes on Bracewell and McKenzie and liked the SOLD part of those signs. These clients didn’t use the internet or cell phones, the didn’t have an answering machine, they didn’t drive and they had owned their home without a mortgage. They also had a dream that I sold their home, so I listed. This home had a bit of a lakeview, but also at the same time overlooked the industrial area. The home wasn’t exactly the warm welcome you would want your buyers to see when they first walked in the door, repairs were evident.

At the same time, I started working with some first time home buyers who own a automotive repair shop, have 2  gorgeous teenage girls and were referred by a past client. As I mentioned, the house was in definite need of repair. I showed the girls their future bedrooms and they were less than impressed to say the least. Cosmetics aside, this house has some good solid bones, a new high efficiency furnace, and a mortgage helper. These buyers knew that it would be a fixer upper in which they could build equity with. Having rented for the past 11 years in Penticton, they decided it was time to buy; even the daughters could handle this! As I showed the home to the buyers, their parents, their children we were greeted by some overly friendly neighbors who then invited us all over! Welcome to the neighborhood! We just went firm on their deal and now it was mystery time! So I needed ID from Mr. Sunshine and Mrs. Moonlight, the sellers, seriously. The title of the house is registered to a T.S. Sunshine. Well, with the language barrier and the title registered in their previous names, I had to play detective and confirm that these people were in fact Sunshine and Moonlight. This couple lives simply and purely, they are kind and fabulous, unique individuals. It was such a pleasure to work with Sunshine and Moonlight, and be reminded of a simple life.

After working with them, they are coming in to speak with my manager, they are so happy their home was sold in a reasonable amount of time (and felt that the other agent wasted their time). In addition to the great recommendation to the manager, they also really commented on how much they liked my signage! Sunshine told me that it looks like a man installed it, there was no falling over or leaning for my sign! And not to keep a secret, I may be strong but my signs need some major man arms.

All in all I managed to complete the Dunant home transaction with happy buyers and sellers on either end. The new buyers will turn this home around with a little lipstick! I can’t wait to see the finished product.
